What’s Important In Choosing A Webhost

Simply pick the least expensive one and go for it! It’s only a site, who cares right?

WRONG!

Choosing an inappropriate web host can be out and out negative to your business and web presence. A web has resembles an establishment to a structure – without the correct base, everything is, in the long run, going to self-destruct. In a perfect world, you’ll need your establishment to be solid, fast, and reliable.

Let’s have a glance at some factors and features of every good web host should have.

Speed

This is of the most extreme importance point. In this universe of fast-moving tech and moment satisfaction, your potential clients will simply click ‘x’ if your site doesn’t stack up sufficiently quickly.

The speed where your audience is

Preferably, you’ll need your server to perform fastest at your focus on the audience’s area. Having truly fast server speeds in London isn’t generally relevant when you’re focusing on Singaporeans!

Uptime

No one loves paying for web hosting services and having downtime on their websites. Search for a web host that can focus on in any event 99.8% uptime.

Security

Your site is an expansion of your brand, and it might hold the entirety of your valuable information. You wouldn’t need a host that is effectively hackable! Ensure your host has solid security accreditations and programmed malware checking.

Client support

Murphy’s Law expresses that anything that can turn out badly, will go wrong even under the least favorable conditions conceivable time. This applies to servers and sites as well. At the point when it occurs, it’ll be ideal to have individuals you can rely upon to get you out, so having all day, every day/365 client assistance support is fundamental.

Backups

Continuously have a backup plan. For this situation, a decent host ought to consistently have programmed backups of your information, just if anything turns out badly.

Capacity and Bandwidth

You’ll want as much of this as possible, as it legitimately affects how much information you can load to the servers (pictures, content, and so forth). It additionally controls how much traffic every month you’re permitted.

Cost

Do you realize that a familiar proverb that goes “the nothing good is cheap, nothing cheap is good”? No doubt you’re going to need to notice. In any case, get something that suits your backups – you needn’t bother with an overly costly web host in case you’re simply running a little site. Simply be a little careful with the uber cost ones.

Reliable Web Hosting is Important!

The quality of your web hosting provider can have a massive impact on the potential success of your site.

Choosing a website hosting service for your Singaporean website is luckily very easy, as a lot of the big players have data centers in Singapore. Aside from the table below, we also go into more detail with individual website hosting reviews.

                                    Best Singapore Web Hosting 2020

Here are the 10 top web hosting reviews for Singapore, ranked by looking at disk space, cost, and support:

1.Hostinger – Best Overall Web Hosting

Hostinger offers the absolute best value when it comes to hosting. The amount of features, support, and performance you get for only $0.99/mo is impressive, which is why they’re our #1 on the list.

Hostinger started in 2004 and now have 25+ million users, and with good reason, as they consistently manage to provide quality hosting at a lower cost compared to the competition.

They have a data center right here in Singapore, which makes site speed a non-issue (definitely as they use SSDs, and even have a custom-built caching plugin for WordPress sites).

And just in case your target market is somewhere else, they also have servers in the United States, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Lithuania, Brazil, and Indonesia.

As for support, they offer 24/7/365 live chat. They’re very responsive and helpful.

What sets them apart from the competition though, is their onboarding process. Setting up a website is flawless, with each step smoothly flowing into the next, which is fantastic for non-techy people.

They have 3 shared hosting plans, with the most popular plan being only $0.99/mo (90% discount).

Oh, and they also have a 30-day money-back guarantee, a definite no-brainer in our book!

Pros

  • Very easy to setup
  • Great performance
  • Super affordable
  • Fast server in Singapore + global network

Cons

  • N/A

3. A2 hosting – Best Reseller Host

Price – $3.92

A2 Hosting is becoming more and more popular these days – and it’s mainly because of their reputation as a good hosting provider.

For their WordPress hosting options, you can choose from Shared or Manage. Their specific plans and details are listed below.

Shared WordPress Plans

  1. Lite – A2 Hosting’s cheapest Shared WordPress plan currently costs $2.96/ month (regular price is $7.99). It comes with 1 website, unlimited storage space, unlimited bandwidth, and 5 databases.
  2. Swift – Now priced at only $3.70/ month (regular price is $9.99), you’ll get unlimited websites, unlimited storage space, unlimited bandwidth, and unlimited databases with this package.
  3. Turbo – For only $7.03/ month (regular price is $18.99), you can get A2 Hosting’s most expensive Shared WordPress hosting plan. It comes with A LOT of advanced features including unlimited websites, unlimited storage space, unlimited bandwidth, and unlimited databases.

  3. Unlimited – This is A2 Hosting’s top-tier plan on WordPress hosting. It’s priced at $36.98/ month right now, but its regular price is $75.48. You can host an unlimited number of websites with it and it comes with 40GB storage space and unlimited bandwidth.

Note that all the above Managed WordPress hosting plans include free SSL certificates, site staging, SSD, CDN, automatic backups, and more. The main differences in the plans include the number of websites and storage spaces.

Shared Vs. Managed

When choosing a plan, keep in mind that the Shared hosting options are more for DIY setups. Each plan is also faster than the cheaper one (with the Turbo plan being the fastest as it comes with a turbo mode).

All the Managed hosting plans are already in turbo mode, so they’re A LOT faster than the Shared hosting options. They also come with more features, of course.

All in all, we like A2 Hosting mainly because of their speed (it’s what they’re most known for). They’re also giving their customers 99.9% uptime commitment – which is good, as they can deliver on this.

And their customer service is just as good with 24/7 connectivity via e-mail, phone, and chat. So, when choosing from their various WordPress hosting plans, simply go for the one that matches your needs and budget.

GreenGeeks is an eco-friendly hosting Company that uses renewable energy in their services.

They have a lot of offerings as hosting solutions and they do have WordPress hosting packages especially optimized for WordPress sites. We listed them all (along with their best features) below.

  1. Eco site Lite – This is their cheapest and lightest plan (in terms of power and features) and it’s mostly intended as a startup plan. It’s still powerful enough for a small website or blog and it’s very affordable. Now priced at only $2.95/ month (regular price is $9.95), this plan includes 1 website, unlimited SSD disk space, unlimited bandwidth, and unlimited MySQL databases.
  2. Eco site Pro – If you have a growing website, or simply want to have all the needed features of a successful site right from the start, GreenGeek’s mid-priced plan is more suitable for you. 3. Eco site Premium – This is GreenGeeks’ topmost WordPress hosting plan and it only costs $11.95 for its introductory price (regular price is $24.95). It offers unlimited websites, unlimited SSD disk space, unlimited bandwidth, and unlimited MySQL databases. It’s the recommended plan for busy sites (like e-commerce).

When choosing a plan from the list above, note that the Lite package only comes with basic features. The Pro plan, on the other hand, performs 2 times better than the Lite plan. And as for the Premium plan, expect 4 times the performance from their lowest plan (or 2 times better than the Pro).

6. CloudWays – Best Singapore Cloud Hosting

Price – $10

Disk Space – 25 GB

Support – Phone, Support Tickets, Live Chat

CloudWays is a platform for cloud hosting services. As a WordPress user, you can choose to host your WordPress website via different cloud servers (such as DigitalOcean, Linode, Vultr, AWS, and Google).

We like CloudWays mainly because of their flexible pricings – their system allows for a pay-as-you-go setup. Listed below are your choices for their startup plans.

  1. DigitalOcean – For $10/ month, you get 1GB RAM, 1-core processor, 25GB storage space, and 1TB bandwidth.
  2. Linode – Priced at $22/ month, this plan gives you 2GB RAM, 1-core processor, 50GB storage space, and 2TB bandwidth.
  3. Vultr – You can get Vultr’s starter plan for $42/ month. It comes with 4GB RAM, 2-core processor, 80GB storage, and 4TB bandwidth.
  4. AWS (Amazon Web Services) – For $42/ month, AWS is giving you 4GB RAM, 2-core processor, 80GB storage space, and 4TB bandwidth.
  5. Google Cloud – Priced at $80/ month, this plan comes with 8GB RAM, 4-core processor, 160GB storage space, and 5TB bandwidth.

As you can see above, all the hosting plans are very powerful indeed. However, we listed them according to strength and features (with the less featured ones first). Refer to the above list when considering their features (to see if they match your needs) and get the one that’s most suitable for you. And remember, these are just starter plans – as each one is scalable.

CloudWays is giving its customers a 99.99% uptime guarantee. Let’s just say that it’s safe to assume that your site will always be online.

Their customer service is also available 24/7 to help you with anything. You can reach them via chat, phone, and e-mail.

CloudWays also has a 30-day money-back guarantee on all its plans. They’re also giving their customers a 3-day trial period to check out their services first. We recommend taking advantage of this free trial – 3 days is enough to familiarize yourself with their setup and test their platform before committing to any plan. However, they do require you to upgrade to the paid version of your plan (should you decide to push through with it) before the end of your trial period.

Indeed, CloudWays comes with very powerful WordPress hosting plans which also include the following:

7. Bluehost – Good Value Web Host

Best MongoDB Web Hosting ReviewPrice – $3.95

Disk Space – 50 GB

Support – Phone, Support Tickets, Live chat

BlueHost has been a popular hosting provider for many years now. It comes with different types of hosting options – but for now, we’re going to look at their Shared WordPress hosting plans. These are especially optimized hosting solutions for WordPress sites. And although you can host your WordPress website on a standard shared hosting platform, you know that there’s something about choosing one that’s laser-focused on this particular CMS platform.

  1. Basic – This is regularly priced at $7.99/ month, but is now available for only $3.95 (introductory price). As its name suggests, this plan is mainly intended for basic sites. You can host 1 website with it and it comes with 50GB SSD storage. It also allows for 5 parked domains and 25 subdomains.
  2. Plus – Priced at $5.85/ month (introductory price only, regular price is $10.99), choose this plan if you want a package that carries more than just basic features. With it, you can have an unlimited number of websites, unlimited SSD storage, unlimited parked domains, and unlimited subdomains.
  3. Choice Plus – This is Bluehost’s most expensive plan regularly priced at $14.99/ month (now it only costs $5.95 as the introductory price). It has all the features embodied in the cheaper plans and so much more. You can host an unlimited number of websites with it and get unlimited SSD storage as well. You’ll also get unlimited parked domains and unlimited subdomains.

If you look closely at the above plans, you’ll see that their main differences lie in the number of websites that you can host on the plan as well as the number of parked domains and subdomains. Needless to say, plans get more features (and more powerful) as they upgrade (and increase in value).

Aside from providing an environment that’s optimized for WordPress, all the plans above also include the following:

  • Free SSL certificates
  • Automatic WordPress installation
  • Automatic WordPress updates
  • Free domain (1 year only)
  • 200 marketing credit
  • And so much more!

Bluehost is also giving its customers a 99.99% uptime guarantee – and yes, they’re one of the most reliable hosts around. They may not be perfect, but they’re good.

Bluehost’s customer service is also good. Aside from the guides and tutorials that you’ll find online, they also have a support team that’s available 24/7 via e-mail, phone, and live chat.

You can build (and grow) your WordPress site with Bluehost. It’s one of the recommended hosting providers by WordPress itself. Yes, WordPress and Bluehost are very compatible with each other and you can create an authoritative site using their combined powers.

Pros

  • SSL free of charge
  • Affordable
  • Decent for WordPress

Cons

  • Data centers and servers only based in the USA
  • Mixed reviews

8. WP Engine – Great Managed WordPress Host

wp engine hosting reviews

Price – $35

Disk Space – Unlimited

Support – Phone, Live Chat, Support Tickets

Personal and business websites can choose from any of the WP Engine’s hosting plans. As you can already tell by their name, this is a Company that’s purely devoted to WordPress sites (starting them, running them, and growing them).

If you want to have a WordPress experience with WP Engine, you can choose from any of their packages (listed below):

  1. StartUp – Priced at $31.50/ month, this plan allows for 1 website, 3 WP environments per site, 50GB bandwidth, and up to 25,000 visitors per month.
  2. Growth – For 103.50/ month, you can get this package that allows for up to 5 websites. It also comes with 3 environments per site, 200GB bandwidth, and 100,000 visits per month.
  3. Scale – WP Engine’s most expensive plan will cost you $261/ month and you can host 15 websites with it. Each site is also allowed 3 environments each. The plan also includes 400GB bandwidth and up to 400,000 visitors per month.
  4. Custom – If your needs can’t be met by the above plans, you can choose to go for WP Engine’s Custom plan. You’ll need to coordinate with WP Engine itself to get this type of package.

As you can already tell by the above list, WP Engine’s StartUp package is exactly that – for startups and basic websites. The Growth Plan is for growing sites, and the Scale package is for scaling up your business (it has the most capacity, resources, and limits).

The Custom plan doesn’t come with a price and its features are not listed as this will be up to you (and your specific needs).

Note that WP Engine’s Custom plan is their more expensive plan as this will be tailored to your specific requirements. They’ll give you a dedicated environment for this and assure you of better performance than the previous 3 plans.

Most of all, you’ll get priority response when you end up with their Custom plan.

For their uptime, they’re not guaranteeing 100%, but they’re committed to providing 99.95% to 99.99% uptime. And believe us when we say that they are reliable in keeping the websites they’re hosting online all the time – most of the time, with very few downtimes (if any).

You can also expect these from WP Engine:

  • Free SSL certificates
  • CDN included
  • Free migrations
  • Studio Press themes
  • Genesis framework
  • And more!

So, if you’re looking for a hosting provider for your WordPress site, make sure that you consider WP Engine. You can easily set up, launch, and maintain your website with this trusted Company.

Pros

  • Auto-updates for WordPress
  • 24/7 expert WP support
  • Real-time threat monitoring

Cons

  • High-end price range

9. Exabytes SG

When someone talks about local Singaporean web hosting, the one brand that always comes to mind is Exabytes.

Established way back in 2001, Exabytes is the oldest player out of the 5. Over the years, they’ve established a strong presence in the market, forging relationships, and connecting with their customers. Some of our friends swear by them, having used their service for over ten years. So, with their reputation as a ‘big brother’ in the industry, we couldn’t wait to see how they fare when compared against the other big boys.

Speedwise, Exabytes performed quite well. They produced a worldwide average of 173.9 ms on our server speed checker with an average of 74 ms in Singapore, Sydney, and Japan. They are definitely on par with the international player.

Looking at the features and benefits, Exabytes is the Exabest.

Everything that you need to build a website, they sell. It’s essentially a one-stop-shop for site building and hosting. They also tick all the right boxes and have all the required features (which may not be as exciting as the competitors, but they’re still pretty decent). Let’s have a look at the list:

  • SSD storage – Yup! But only on premium plans
  • Storage Space – A measly 10 GB. It’s still a lot though!
  • Websites Allowed – 1.
  • Bandwidth – Unlimited.
  • Speed: A+

As mentioned their features may not be as strong as the competitors, but Exabytes makes up for it in terms of convenience – everything I need is right on their site, I don’t have to look for a separate site builder.

There’s only one drawback though – the price. Exabytes offers the same features as their international counterparts… but only with their premium Ebiz Lite Pro plan, which costs SGD14.99 per month. In my personal opinion, It’s a little on the high side, and I wouldn’t be able to justify the cost.

10. DreamHost

Best MongoDB Web Hosting ReviewPrice – $7.95

Disk Space – Unlimited

Support – Phone, Support Tickets, Live chat

You’ve probably heard about DreamHost since it’s been around since 1996. Yes, that long – and we included it in this review because it’s still one of the best hosting companies out there. Their Managed WordPress hosting plans are all high-performing and feature-filled.

Check out the following packages:

  1. DreamPress – For $19.95/ month (only $16.95 if you’re paying yearly), you can get DreamHost’s cheapest WordPress hosting plan. You can host 1 website with it and it comes with 30GB SSD storage, unmetered bandwidth, and up to 100,000 visitors monthly.
  2. DreamPress Plus – This is DreamHost’s mid-range plan and it costs $29.95/ month (only $24.95 if you’re paying annually). You can host 1 website with it and get 60GB SSD storage. It also comes with unlimited bandwidth and 300,000 monthly visitors.
  3. DreamPress Pro – Priced at $79.95/ month (only $71.95 if you’re paying yearly), this package includes 1 website, 120GB SSD storage, unmetered bandwidth, up to 1,000,000 visitors monthly, and unlimited CDN.

Note that their main differences can be found in the storage space, the number of visitors allowed per month, and CDN usage. While the cheapest DreamPress version is quite powerful (to think that it’s their startup plan), you’ll see that it’s not that cheap.

And of course, the DreamPress Plus is more powerful than the lower-priced plan as it’s more high-capacity (and expensive). The DreamPress Pro version is their top-tier plan and it promises the best performance of all.

You’ll also find these on all the plans:

  • Free SSL certificates
  • Daily backups
  • 1-click restores
  • Built-in caching
  • And more!

Both the Plus and Pro versions also get the Jetpack plugin professional version. As for the regular DreamPress plan, it only comes with the free version. Only the 2 most expensive plans (Plus and Pro) can also access the premium themes from WordPress.com.

DreamHost is also one of the few hosting providers (if not the only one) that are giving 100% uptime guarantees. They’ll even compensate you with 1 day of free hosting for every 8 hours of downtime. But of course, scheduled maintenance and the like are excluded from the deal.

If you’re getting their WordPress hosting plan, you can also rest assured that their customer service is comprised of WordPress experts. You can contact them 24/7 via live chat, phone, and e-mail.

However, keep in mind that DreamPress Pro subscribers always get priority support over DreamPress regular and DreamPress Plus users.

If you’re keen on choosing one of DreamHost’s plans, we encourage you to take advantage of their 30-day money-back guarantee. Work on your site immediately after signing up so that you can test-run it before really committing to it.

Pros

  • Great WordPress hosting options
  • Unlimited bandwidth
  • Eco-friendly

3. Is Bluehost WordPress hosting worth it?

eCommerce features are good with multiple shopping carts available and SSL security. Most customers report that Bluehost is fast. Integrate with Cloudflare, and you’ll get even better performance.
If you can afford it, the WordPress hosting on Bluehost is considered to be top-notch.

4. Is WordPress good for hosting?

If you’re thinking about building a website and don’t want to code it from scratch, WordPress is the way to go. Most web hosts offer some form of WordPress-specific service, be it an optimized or a managed environment. Both types boast platforms specifically designed for WordPress.

5. Can I host my website?

You can host your website using any operating system from Linux, Windows, or even Mac computers. Generally, I like hosting my websites in a data center and using a Linux distribution dedicated solely to the role of being a Web server. You can choose Centos or Ubuntu servers which are both great options.

Conclusion –

We had a lovely time reviewing these10 brands, but it also made it super difficult for us to pick a winner.

However, the main deciding factor for us would be the pricing. SiteGround, Hostinger, and A2 Hosting gave us everything we needed with their entry-level packages, which costs below SGD10 per month.

The local brands could compete, but only with their premium packages which can cost up to SGD50 per month.

Their entry-level packages come with only HDD storage options, which isn’t ideal especially as we’re dealing with speed and load times. They also seem to lack 24/7 support, something which is quite important to us.

Hostinger seemingly came out of nowhere, with their amazing speeds, benefits, and support at their really low introductory price. They’re missing certain features but we still think they’re the best bet for those that are just starting.
