MetaCDN is a cloud-based CDN (content delivery network) company that also provides streaming video, video transcoding and web accelerator services. The company is established in 2011 from research out of the University of Melbourne, the company is financed by Australian venture capital resistance the University of Melbourne’s commercialization arm and Starfish Ventures.
In 2011, Commercial services were started in December and extended in August 2012 to contain additional features like web site advancement. In June 2012, Martin Ryan joined MetaCDN as CEO to guide the company’s operational and strategic functions. The company leverages services like Edgecast, Amazon Web Services and Windows Azure to provide users access to a united global network for content delivery. In July 2012, the company announced having 102 access points in 5 continents on their website.
